Elopement – Portraits – Photography at Santorini island – Greece

Santorini is well known for its bright light and the white and blue colors. The architecture is also unique.

Sanna and Henri have been married for ten years now, and they decided to have an escape to this unique Greek island to celebrate it.

Part of their celebration was a photography session that would capture their feelings, the landscape and the colors of the island, realistic and also metaphorical.

That is the reason they contacted me and their anniversary “portraits” photo session was set.

It seems that Sanna got inspired from the white and blue colors of Santorini and decided that their clothes styling should be matching the environment.

After sending the images, I received a beautiful email from the couple which I would like to share

“Oh my, Athanasios, I just love the pictures! Images are gorgeous, and you so capture the love and happiness we had and feel! We have talked about you a lot for we also had a great experience at the harbor and in Imerovigli with you. The pictures are all 5-star pictures all the way round: great quality, setting, light, feeling! Everybody has admired your talent…This is a life long memory, thank you.”

This is a small sample of the images captured on that day…..

Engagement Photography session at Santorini and Mykonos islands – Greece

Santorini and Mykonos are the two most well known Greek islands, and they both belong to the Cyclades islands complex, with the characteristic blue churches and chapels with the blue domes, the narrow alleys, the white houses with the blue doors and windows.

These elements are surrounded by the blue sky and sea and during summer at high temperatures.

Jacqueline and Dave come from Canada and USA, they will get married next year on a very special and lucky date, according to the Chinese calendar….08. 08 2018

We had a photo session at Mykonos first and of course the trademark of the island, the windmills was within the locations we had to visit.

We were lucky enough to meet “Peter” the Pelican, the living symbol of the island, while we were strolling at the narrow alleys looking for the best spots to have their portraits captured.

After two days we met at Santorini, and we visited several places and spots at this equally amazing island.

Landscape and breathtaking views have to be taken into consideration on this island as well as the beautiful architecture.

This is a sample of the two sessions we had at Santorini and Mykonos or to be exact Mykonos and Santorini.

Anniversary portraits photo session at Mykonos island – Greece

Mykonos is famous for the windmills, the churches, the narrow alleys, the blue and colorful doors, and windows. Miho and Masa, a couple from Japan had a cruise in the Mediterranean sea celebrating their first wedding anniversary. They decided that the best and most picturesque place at the cruises schedule that they would visit, would be the island of Mykonos. They contacted me as they wanted me to photograph them at the “island of the winds.”

We arranged a photographic “portraits” session at Mykonos Hora (the capital).

The only time they would be available was at 15:00 midday, the most difficult time for portraiture due to the extremely strong and contrasty light (not to mention the heat)!

Despite that, both me and them, we were very satisfied with the photographs!

Here is a small sample….

Santorini Oia Wedding Photos

Mara and William traveled all the way from Washington D.C. to get married in Oia. The preparations of both the bride and the groom took place in a private Cycladic villa above the ruins of the Venetian castle. As I was climbing the path to the villa early in the morning of the wedding day, breathing the sweet fragrant air and drinking in the beauty and the colors of the amazing landscape, I fell in love with the place. And I couldn’t help thinking that Mara and William couldn’t have made a better choice.

The ceremony was held on a terrace with endless views of the Aegean blue. The bride looked divine in her exquisite low-back wedding dress and her elegant Badgley Mischka bridal shoes, and the groom was very handsome in his classic blue suit. They both radiated happiness, and the glorious weather seemed to symbolize the perfect beginning of their new life together.

The newlyweds drove to Le Ciel, a wedding and event venue with spectacular views, for the wedding reception in an old white automobile that added a classy touch to the romantic atmosphere of the wedding. And it is worth noting that they had also arranged to have a wine tasting experience, which I am sure they enjoyed tremendously, as Santorini happens to produce excellent wines that owe their special taste and aroma to the climate and volcanic soil of the island.

I would also like to mention that once again I had the fortune and pleasure to cooperate with the wedding planner Maria and her enthusiastic and talented team of Tie the Knot in Santorini, who deserve the credit for the wonderful decoration both in the villa and in the reception area.

Dear Mara & William, thank you for trusting me and letting me be a part of your special day as your wedding photographer. I wish you a lifetime of love and happiness together!
