Rachel & Chris’s Wintery UK Wedding – Sansom Photography

Hi Everyone,

Our first post on Best of Wedding Photography is a wedding we covered in March this year, and what a March it has been!

I’ve been to a few festivals over the years, some warm summer days and others with nothing but relentless rain and wind. There’s always that element of luck, even in summer. Rachel and Chris planned on a festival themed spring wedding but the good old British weather had other plans. On the morning of their March wedding the covering of snow was thick enough to send us into a hedge on the way to Wood Hall (Good thing we’d set off at 5.30 in the morning and had a shovel!) but we arrived in plenty of time where Rachel and her bridesmaids were making an early start.

I always think one of the biggest testaments of anyone’s character is how they handle bad weather on their wedding day. I can fully understand anyone’s disappointment, especially when the day’s been so long in the planning. But both Chris and Rachel didn’t let the bitter cold spoil their day for a second, even the festival flags went up as planned, everyone made it through the snow and the rest of the day went off without a hitch.

We have some fantastic weddings, but the best thing is always the couples we meet. I think it’s safe to say that Chris and Rachel’s wedding didn’t turn out exactly how they imagined, but as we left after the dancing had started it was hard to imagine them changing anything about their day. The cold weather might have put a stop to the outdoor activities, but it did seem to bring everyone together and ultimately isn’t that something everyone wants for their wedding day?

Wedding Photographer UK – Orchardleigh Wedding

A Spring Wedding at Orchardleigh in Somerset UK

Sean Gannon – UK Wedding Photographer

I have said before that every wedding is unique. Even when I have been to a wedding venue a few times, its always the people that make the wedding special. I first met Jo and Nick about a year ago and have been looking forward to their wedding. For the first time in what seems forever, we had beautiful sunshine all day! The boys were in great spirits when I arrived. Nick was oddly calm for a groom. Jo’s room was the usual chaos of champagne and hairspray but amongst all, she too was very calm. She was even happy for me to steal her dress and hang it from a chandelier in the hallway of Orchardleigh house!

Jo was walked down the aisle by her mother and Nick stuck with tradition and didn’t look around until Jo was beside him. The vicar had told them they wouldn’t get to kiss when they had their rehearsal so it was a lovely surprise when he announced to everyone that they were husband and wife and they kissed to a great applause!

I have seen many speeches, funny, emotional and entertaining but I must say that this is the first best man speech that started with the slaying of a werewolf who then delivered the rest of the speech! Its one of the reasons I love weddings! The band kept the dance floor going all night and the boys were even allowed to smoke their cigars indoors for once!

Here are just a few images from Jo and Nicks fantastic day. I hope you like them, feel free to share them and comment below.

UK Wedding Adventure – Photographed by Crash Taylor

A few weeks ago, Fran and Ian celebrated their special day at Stubton Hall. Bridal prep took place at Fran’s mum and dad’s beautiful house in the countryside. The ceremony took place at Southwell Minister and then, we all headed to Stubton Hall for the reception. The theme for the wedding was based on the traditional English shoots on county estates. It was very different and very cool. The weather was bright and beautiful but extremely cold. Fran was amazing, wanting to take photos outside despite being freezing. Thank you Fran, it was definitely worth it. I really enjoyed photographing this wedding adventure and I hope you enjoy the photos. A big thank you to my assistant Natallia and Stubton Hall for there hospitality.

Rob & Jennifer were married at Holy Trinity Church Long Newnton and then went onto Westonbirt House for their wedding reception. Westonbirt is an Elizabethan style manor house built in 1863 and designed by Lewis Vullimay, It has a sumptuous classical english style interior and is now used as a private boarding school but is available on select dates throughout the year for weddings.

Rob is a wedding photographer himself and I was flattered that he chose me as their wedding photographer. Jennifer’s dress was just fantastic and her flowing veil was brilliant for photographs in the wind!.

We use Folio Albums which are a fine art album made here in Britain and this is the layout of their album design. I hope you like it and if you are getting married here in the UK or anywhere in Europe or beyond we are available for destination weddings and would love to hear from you.

Ashley & Lewis at Mitton Hall

After two rain effected weddings we were very fortunate to have the sun out for most of the day for the glorious wedding of Ashley & Lewis. Sunday saw us at Newhey church complete with a fantastic Gospel choir! Followed by a delightful reception at Mitton Hall outside of Clitheroe. The sun followed us bringing with it it’s own challenges which we duly met! Buddies florist supplied the beautiful flowers , no pressure as it was their own daughter & son’s wedding! Dee being the mother of bride Ashley & business partner Chris the mother of Groom Lewis! The day ran very smoothly in the location of Mitton Hall and the attention to detail was beautifully represented by all that made this day possible. A big thank you to all the family, bridal party and to Ashley & Lewis for being willing to give us the time for us to get some beautiful images.
