Gemma & Richard’s York Maze Wedding – Sansom Photography

We have been incredibly lucky over the last three years in that we’ve had countless fantastic couples and locations. We’ve met some of the friendliest people we could ever ask for and it’s made us incredibly proud to photograph weddings full-time. Richard and Gemma’s York Maze wedding was the epitome of everything we have come to love about wedding photography – an awesome couple who both looked great on the day, a multitude of beautiful details and decorations and guests who were so clearly having fun it really was a pleasure to shoot.

The incredible array of flowers were provided and arranged by Gemma’s Aunt as part of a final college project and I have to say we were blown away. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many different flowers I can’t name in one room, the whole venue looked incredible with little decorations (many of which were handmade) adorning all three rooms. Sometimes at weddings we see friends and family going above and beyond to help out the bride and groom, it was clear just how much Richard and Gemma mean to their friends and family who stayed at the Maze all day on the Friday getting the venue ready. It just seemed like everyone wanted to do anything and everything to make sure the day went perfectly and with so much goodwill it was hard to see it going any other way. Richard and Gemma are just that kind of couple, you just can’t help but love their company, in fact when we first met them back in September we spent most of the day walking around Fountains Abbey chatting away about their plans.

We were also blown away with our couple shots from their day, with so many gorgeous locations we were spoilt for choice! We finished with some photographs with Gemma and Richard sat with blankets outside their amazing ti-pi tent (were they were staying the night) and a lit fire – it seemed like the perfect way to end a perfect wedding.

You captured so many emotions. #215 – the photo of the groom pushing the bride on a swing is one of my favorites.

Richard and Gemma must be entirely thrilled with this amazing and heart-felt wedding story. Your first image paints one million words, and then it keeps going and going. Way to go!

Wedding Photography Style (Infographic)

What wedding photography style choices are there? Great question, and we’re glad you asked. Simply Bridal published the following infographic on their website, and we’re happy to share it with you here on Best of Wedding Photography.

You see, BOWP members consist of each of the photography styles:

  • Photojournalism
  • Classic
  • Artistic/Editorial

So this infographic is a perfect way to demonstrate, in a creative way, the differences between them all so couples have an easier time picking the style they prefer.

We hope you enjoy the infographic! Once you’ve decided on a style, visit the list of photographers in your area and browse their portfolios.

Wedding in Croatia

This was one of those beautiful summer days, just perfect for getting married in Croatia. Some wedding couples were getting married in Dubrovnik, some in Split, Opatija other in Zadar, Hvar, Istria… Our wedding couple was getting married in Zagreb.

Weddings in Croatia usually start bright and early so it’s no wonder One Day Studio photographers  can be seen out and about capturing morning smiles, excitement, love and happiness.

How do we do it? Have a look..

How are you?

I am Miyoung Shim in Korea.

I am looking foward to photographer in Dubrovnik.

Me and my bride plan to stay in Dubrovnik from 1st of May to 2nd of May, 2014.

At that time, we want couple shoot with Dubrovnik scene.

But we are bad at taking a photo.

So could you take a photo for us about 2~3hours? We just want snap photo for us.

If you are possible, could you reply?

I am looking foward to your reply.

Regards,

Miyoung Shim

Sheryl & Steven’s Harrogate Wedding

Sheryl and Steven’s hometowns are more than 4 hours away from each other in Canada and North America, they met whilst studying for their PHDs at Leeds University. It was fascinating hearing about their research trips and the places and buildings they have seen along the way. They opted for an intimate, unique day in Harrogate with friends and family travelling from Canada, Columbia and America.

It was important to both Sheryl and Steve that the day was their style which they both felt was rather unorthodox. In many ways they were right, but we loved seeing the bride and groom have their ‘first look’ before the ceremony, seeing them walk down the aisle together and opting for conversation rather than speeches. In fact, as unorthodox as the day may have been it was, at its heart, everything a wedding should be. Family and friends all coming together, learning about each other and seeing how two people continue to touch the lives of the people close to them.

Yorkshire is certainly our home, but spending the day with Sheryl, Steven and their guests reminded us that it really is all about the people, not the geography.
