Positano Wedding

When you are a destination wedding photographer you have the opportunity to travel to mesmerizing places. Being such for over twenty years now, I don’t simply love it, but am rather devoted to it. Recently I had the chance to revisit its a coastal village Positano on the Amalfi Coast Italy. I’ve always loved the area.

Both Tom and Signe have interesting background stories. He is a professional football player, playing for a team in Norway, while Signe she is a top model, recently featured for the underwear campaign of 50 Shades of Gray.

The reason I am so fond of Positano and the wedding I had the opportunity to partake the photographs speak for themselves. The passionate love of the couple, who both happened to be very good looking !  the beauty of Positano in the background and the spirit of the wedding itself were mesmerizing. The sole reason I am so passionate about being a destination wedding photographer is to reflect just that – the emotions, the people, the love, the passion and the beauty of the surrounding environment.

There are a lot more Destination weddings on my site and blog at www.ianjohnsonphoto.com

Transport Themed East London Wedding

This East London wedding was a real treat to photograph, from Shanie’s preparations through to the amazing party at St Matthias Community Centre. I began at an apartment where Shanie and the bridesmaids were getting ready. It was pretty busy, and there was a fabulous reaction when Shanie appeared in her stunning black and red lace dress that she’d designed herself. Shanie and Pete both work for Transport for London and the transport theme began with the bridal party boarding a double decker bus for the journey to All Saint’s Church in Poplar. After the beautiful service we did some family pictures in the church grounds before joining all their guests at St Matthias Community Centre for the wedding breakfast. The former church had been transformed for the meal and party by J&J Occasions. After the wedding breakfast and speeches, the party really started to get going with some traditional Jewish dancing before everyone flooded the dance floor.

Pre-Wedding in Berlin with Derek & Grace

Derek and Grace are really beautiful, bright and sensual couple from Singapore. We were very pleased that they have chosen us to shoot theirs Pre-Wedding in Berlin. It seemed there was not a minute on this day when they were not looking lovingly at each other and enjoyed their feelings and this beautiful day. These emotions took over me. Working with them was a pleasure.

Reading your post while seeing the photos makes me think how deeply in love they are to each other! It seems like I’m checking out a photo shoot of an upcoming rom-com movie! All their faces and lovable smiles make every photo more splendid! It’s a fairy tale kind of concept that leads to a brilliant result! The background of each photo is beyond excellent! I’m pretty sure the readers checking this out would find this blog a perfect example of what a lovely couple looks like! Browsing to each photo makes me conclude that everything is well organized! Keep it up, German!

Wedding Between The Olive Trees

When I first met Ruth and Jason in Bracu restaurant, where their wedding was planned we got totally excited : what a perfect venue. Everything was there in this Olive Estate : a piece of heaven. In the morning while the girls were getting ready the boys could have some fun shooting. After a beautiful ceremony the freshly married couple and their guests just had to walk a few meters to the reception. We just had to walk around to be in the most fantastic scenery to take photos, while the guests could sip some locally made cocktail and play ninepins or giant Jenga. It has been such an honour to be able to show the love of this wedding with my own happy way.

Brighton Engagement Session with Rusha and Matt

It’s always such a pleasure to photograph a couple as full of energy and life as Rusha and Matt. Although I’m based in London they asked me if I’d head down to Brighton for the afternoon as they live there and wanted to capture places that were part of their daily lives. Their wedding, which I’m shooting in couple of weeks, is in rural Petworth in West Sussex, so these pictures also gave them an opportunity to try another location.

I always encourage couples to go somewhere completely different to their wedding for an engagement shoot so we can experiment and come up with something personal to them. Couples often say that they want to do an engagement shoot so that they feel more comfortable in front of the camera and get to know me a bit better and I can’t think of a couple where this hasn’t helped on their wedding day.

Having said that, the real benefit for them is getting a great set of pictures as most haven’t been photographed professionally before. Brighton’s one of my favourite town’s in the UK so I jumped at the chance to wander the streets with them before ending up on the beach at sunset. For once the weather in Blighty did us proud and we spent an awesome couple of hours together. I can’t wait to shoot their wedding in a couple of weeks!

I’m pleased to be back in England after a hectic summer, take a look at my website for recent work and destination weddings in France and Italy.
