Rustic & Romantic Florida Wedding

Ashleigh and Ryan’s Wedding: A Sarasota Valentine’s Day Wedding to Remember

Only one thing could possibly be more romantic than getting married on the shore of Sarasota Bay in Sarasota, Florida, and that’s exchanging vows on Valentine’s Day. For Ashleigh and Ryan Keller, their Valentine wedding was full of surprises, laughter, and touching moments that every guest will remember forever. From whimsical wedding favors to bridal party games to a ceremony overlooking one of the most beautiful locales in Florida, this winter wedding was anything but ordinary.

Precious Moments with the Family and Groom

As the bridal party prepared for the wedding, the stage was set down by the shores of the bay inside the Palmetto Riverside Bed and Breakfast. White chairs lined either side of the outdoor aisle and sat before a white archway, all of which sat under the shade of a mighty weeping willow adorned with white lace. Yachts and other boats out on the bay provided a one-of-a-kind backdrop to this outdoor wedding, and arriving guests were treated to small wedding favors and the opportunity to drop off cards and gifts at a unique table set up behind the guests’ seating area.

Inside, Ashleigh and her parents shared a moment of surprise and joy as their daughter descended the stairs from her preparation room in her wedding gown, as neither of them had seen her in it yet. Both Ashleigh’s mother and father were stunned and joyous at seeing their daughter in her gown for the first time, and it’s clear that this was a moment that none of them would soon forget.

The bride and groom shared an intimate moment at the altar a few minutes later, as Ashleigh came down the aisle and Ryan saw his bride in her dress for the first time. Ryan took her hands and the couple embraced before the official ceremony began, and it was clear to everyone who attended this Valentine’s Day wedding that romance was definitely in the air! Ryan and Ashleigh exchanged their vows against the backdrop of Sarasota Bay as friends and family looked on, but the day’s festivities were far from over.

Friends, Fun, and Flip the Cup

Once the ceremony was completed, Ryan and Ashleigh gathered with their bridal party for some group photos and to spend some time together. The couple and their friends shared a champagne toast under the willow tree and spent some time together chatting and laughing before the groomsmen and bridesmaids faced off for a game of “tip the cup,” which consists of toasting the bride and groom, emptying a plastic cup of its beverage, and then flipping it with one hand so it lands upright and upside-down. Both teams laughed and joked as they played and their guests cheered them on. Afterward, as the sun began to set, Ryan and Ashleigh headed out to a pier on the bay for a few private moments together.  As the sun set on Sarasota Bay, Ashleigh and Ryan enjoyed the sight together as their first evening as husband and wife began.

Toasts, Cake, and Conga Lines

Ashleigh and Ryan shared their first dance to kick off the reception festivities once they arrived with the wedding party, and then the bride and groom each shared some tearful but joyous moments with their parents as they each shared a dance together. Once the traditional dances ended, members of the bridal party stood up to share some anecdotes and well wishes for Ashleigh and Ryan, who even managed to get in a few words of their own during the toasts. The couple cut their wedding cake soon after, and once the dance floor opened up, everyone young and old enjoyed cutting loose. Ashleigh and Ryan spent time greeting family and friends in between dances, including a large conga line that involved nearly every guest at the reception! The evening ended with the traditional tossing of the bouquet and garter, and those who attended this beautiful Valentine’s Day wedding in Sarasota would no doubt agree that it would live in their memory for years to come.

Summary: For Ashleigh and Ryan Keller, their Sarasota Valentine wedding was full of surprises, laughter, and touching moments that every guest will remember forever. From whimsical wedding favors to bridal party games to a ceremony overlooking one of the most beautiful locales in Florida, this winter wedding was anything but ordinary.

Wedding in Rome, Merit + Edoard

Edward and Marit have pronounced them in the central basilica of Santa Francesca Romana in Imperial Rome. The bride and groom arrived aboard a Fiat 500 at the event featuring guests of all nations. The reception was held at Villa Miani with its impressive panoramic view of the lights of Rome.

Lydia & Chris – Houses of Parliament Wedding, London

We love the opportunity to shoot in new locations and when we heard Lydia and Chris’s plans we were instantly very excited about their day! We’ve shot in London a few times now but the Houses of Parliament added a little extra pressure onto the never-ending traffic and people in the city!

Their ceremony took place at the beautiful Westminster Church where, 106 years prior, Winston Churchill was married to Clementine Hozier. It was a short trip across the road to their reception venue at Houses of Parliament where we (and all their guests!) had to be security checked and X-rayed. In the morning Chris looked after their daughter Clementine while he grabbed a late breakfast with his groomsmen, meanwhile Lydia and her maid of honour prepared in style with a hotel room overlooking some of London’s most iconic buildings. We always love how you can tell how in love a couple are on a wedding day, we follow them so closely and looking through our cameras all day we loved just how happy they obviously are together, the glances throughout the day and the smiles on each of their faces.

As we braved the horrendous evening traffic coming out of London, ready for our 4 and a half hour drive home, the thing we talked about more than anything wasn’t the buildings, or crowds or incredible weather, it was just how perfect for each other Lydia and Chris clearly are.

Wedding in Chalkidiki – Greece

I have often wondered about the key to a perfect wedding. If there is a secret formula, some lucky couples seem to have it. And Sophia and Costas are definitely one of them. Because their wedding was absolutely splendid; and they managed to turn even an unfortunate weather change into a chance to add some more magic to an already fabulous experience.

Sophia and Costas live in Zurich, but their dream was to get married in Chalkidiki, Greece. The scenic beauty of a landscape that combines crystal blue seas and green mountains was the ideal natural background for some of the most amazing pictures I have taken as a wedding photographer so far. Naturally, the carefree atmosphere, the positive aura and the relaxed, unhurried attitude of this lovely couple helped a lot. Never before have I met such calm and easygoing people who never seem to lose their smile. How do they do it? It is still a mystery to me!

The warm sunny weather, the good mood of everybody present (which was contagious of course) and the impeccably planned wedding ceremony, enriched with music, dancing and tradition, ensured some more awesome shots.

The wedding party with the live Balkan music was terrific. The cheerful sounds of the trumpets and the clarinet filled the air and everybody danced and had a great time. Everything seemed to be perfect… and then, all of a sudden, it started to rain. Well, this could have ruined the party and the mood of any other newlyweds. But Sophia and Costas have a natural talent for happiness. So, they simply looked at each other, smiled, and… started dancing in the rain! It was a sight to remember –a living picture of love, joy, optimism and positivity! Take a look at the photos and you will see what I mean.

Sophia & Costas, thank you for choosing me as your wedding photographer. I wish you all the happiness in the world… and I know your marriage will be very, very happy. After all, rain on the wedding day is considered to be a sign of good luck, isn’t it?

Wedding in Alemagou, Mykonos – Greece

There were many reasons why I had been really looking forward to Alexis and Costas’ wedding. First of all, they are one of the loveliest couples I have met in the course of my work: they are sweet, generous and simple and they literally radiate kindness and love. Second, they had invested so much time and effort in preparing the wedding of their dreams that there was no way anything could go wrong. (You know, “when you really want something, the whole universe conspires in helping you to achieve it”…)

And third, the place they had chosen to celebrate the beginning of their new life together was the island of my heart, Mykonos. I’ve said it many times, but I can’t help saying it again: Mykonos, with its clear azure waters, its traditional white-washed little houses and windmills, and its unique crazy party atmosphere, is one of the best travel destinations worldwide and one of my favourite wedding destinations in Greece.

The happy couple travelled all the way from New York and their guests came from the four corners of the world. Everybody was determined to have a fabulous time; and we all did! It all started with a fantastic beach party in Platis Gialos, which was followed by the pre-wedding party at Belvedere Hotel and the epilogue was written with the wedding party at Alemagou.

The wedding day started ideally with a pool party. The groom had chosen a beautiful private villa in the area of Kanalia for his preparation –and his friends made sure it was as pleasant as possible– while the ritual of the bride’s preparation took place at the impressive Mykonos Grand Hotel. There were smiling faces all around and the atmosphere was charged with excitement and emotion.

The wedding ceremony took place in a charming little Cycladic chapel, Agios Sostis, where Alexis and Costas joined their lives together, surrounded by loving friends and relatives. The day culminated in the wedding reception at Alemagou with lots of fun, music and dancing. The perfect ending to a perfect day!

Alexis & Costas, thank you for letting me share your big day with you. I wish you a life like a fairytale. And these photos will always remind you of the day when your “happily ever after” started…
