My full name is Ray Anthony Iavasile, and I accept commissions to artistically photograph “documentary wedding stories” across the country and beyond. I have two showroom locations to meet personally: Villa Park in Orange County, California and Birmingham, Michigan.

I am motivated by a love and passion to photograph what is real: real life, real moments, real emotions, real people. My style is specifically documentary and often called “wedding photojounalism.” Having come from a career in Hollywood behind the camera, I have taken the good and the bad from the movie industry. I don’t want to create something phony or suppositious, but rather, to find the existent and authentic story, reality with all of its beauty and flaws. I have mastered the “art” of telling the story photographically.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts (BA) Degree in Photography from Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California. My work has been published in several bridal magazines and I am listed in several preferred vendor lists from prominent venues. I have held memberships with PPA, WPPI, WPJA, and ISPWP. I have also been the recipient of the Top Knots Wedding and Event Photography award as well as Wedding Wire’s Brides’ Choice awards.

In 2009, American Photo Magazine named him one of the top ten wedding photographers in the U.S. In 2007, italian magazine Just Married ranked him as one of the top wedding photographers in the world.

Having grown up in Washington DC as the daughter of a photographer, Justine now lives in Los Angeles with her husband and 2 maltese dogs. Most recently her work was published in Martha Stewart Weddings, In Touch Weekly and People Magazine. Justine also won top honors in the 2010 WPPI 16×20 Print Competition and in 2009 photographed the wedding of former American Idol judge Kara Dioguardi as well as the wedding of singer/ songwriter Lisa Loeb.

Beginning just four years ago, I developed a voice and online brand by leveraging social media and developing techniques to empower clients to become the voice of my brand. I live with my husband and fabulous dog, and at times struggle to determine who is my favorite. I love to eat chocolate, run on the beach, and spend too much time writing on my blog. I hope to take the wedding industry by storm. Or learn how to make meatloaf. Whichever comes first.

I’m single. Always a wedding photographer… rarely a bridesmaid (because all my friends want me to shoot their wedding)… never a bride. I’m waiting for Hollywood to contact me about making a sequel to “The Wedding Planner” –- “The Wedding Photographer.” I would be there. Even though I’ve never planned a wedding myself, I love the atmosphere that surrounds them-so much emotion, so much beauty; every detail meticulously planned out by the bride and hopefully implemented with the help of her wedding consultant (trust me-it helps a lot with the stress factor). The family and friends who are most important in the lives of the couple all in one place to celebrate. And I get to document it all with art. I get to help tell the story that will live on in their memories long after the day is over, the flowers have died and the guests have gone home. I have one of the best jobs in the world. I love it.

When I was in high school I took my first photo class. We made cameras out of shoeboxes. It’s amazing how far we’ve come. Up until six years ago, I enjoyed photography as a hobby. I studied philosophy, theology and math in college; taking art classes for fun—never dreaming I could be paid to be creative. My dad was an electrical engineer; my mom a nurse. It just wasn’t something I thought of. But God had other plans, as He often does, and they were laid out in front of me six years ago. And all I had to do was put one foot in front of another. I’ve been shooting weddings for six years now and love it.

So I might cry at your wedding but I promise I’ll keep shooting and the photos won’t be blurry because I use auto focus. Technology is great these days.

Wedding photography is a lifestyle that connects me with amazing people and sees me travel to destinations around the world. When I am not on the road photographing weddings I am hanging out in Charleston, SC with my husband Lance, our entertaining son Evander, and our loving dog Emma.
