Getting married in the city by the bay? Color us jealous! What a fabulous location to say “I do”. Whether you and your beloved plan to exchange vows in an intimate ocean-side ceremony or someplace more swanky, there are plenty of options to choose from in this picturesque place.
For formal affairs, San Diego offers plenty of stellar restaurants (the Prado at Balboa Park comes to mind), resorts and hotels (many with fantastic ocean views). And if you’re really craving some time on the sea, you can rent a yacht and take the plunge in style. If you and your sweetie are feeling feeling natural, consider holding your nuptials at an area park like the Rancho Guajome Adobe, at a gorgeous garden estate like Los Willows or The Grand Tradition Estate, or at one of the area’s many beautiful wineries (Leoness Cellars and Bernardo Winery get rave reviews).
For something of historic proportions, why not try one of San Diego’s many fabulous museums? The Museum of Photographic Arts and the Junipero Serra Museum (near Presidio Park) are popular spots. Of course, you could go wild and host your special day at one of the San Diego Zoo’s many spectacular venues.
Once you settle on the place and date, it’s time to start thinking about the photos! Your San Diego wedding photographer can help you design the perfect engagement and wedding photo shoots to suit your personality and style.
Are you adventurous, quirky and fun? Why not do an engagement session at Belmont Park? You San Diego wedding photographer can snap some great shots of you and your love crashing in the bumper cars, smooching on the carousel or battling it out at the “Down the Clown” station.
Looking for something more romantic and sweet? Consider a photo shoot at one of San Diego’s fabulous green spaces. Balboa Park, with it’s many gardens, sculptures and gorgeous buildings is a sure-fire bet for beautiful photos. Presidio Park (at Palm Canyon) offers lush green lawns, towering trees and plenty of peace and quiet. If you’re doing a Spring-time photo session, and you’re looking for some bright blossoms, check out the (seasonal) Flower Fields in Carlsbad (small fee applies).
Just a bit further south, you can be transported back in time at the stunning Mission San Juan Capistrano (Orange County’s only mission!) (a photography fee applies). There, your San Diego wedding photographer can memorialize you and your beloved smooching and smiling amidst the rich cultural history of the area.
You might want to top off your session – wherever you start it – with a sunset walk along the beach, or some beautiful shots as the sun slips into the ocean—Sunset Cliffs is a popular (though sometimes crowded) place for romantic photos, and the Coronado Ferry Landing is always a good spot for waterfront pics.
Whatever you choose, be sure that you and your beloved have plenty of fun. It’s your day and your genuine smiles will make every beautiful picture even better.
