I hope that whether you were at Geneveive and Owen’s Wedding or not, that you can feel through these images, everything that a great wedding is all about:

Love. Yep Genevieve and Owen have got that one going on that’s for sure. BIG LOVE. Big enough for half the people of the east coast of Australia and every living animal and person across the pacific, to feel at least a little something on that special day.

Honesty. That’s when there’s no pretence or pre-described notion of what to do, or how to be, when and how. It’s just being and doing as it feels right, and the authenticity of the moment resounds all the more powerfully for it. Again, Genevieve and Owen are as honest, and as real, as two people can be, and to bare witness to this on their wedding day was a gift for us all.

Joy. Joyous faces everywhere!

Photographically, I hope this series of images goes to show, that lasting images come from capturing real moments. Further to this, a wedding which flows without regard for the photographic process facilitates the best photography of all.

Here’s to Wedding Photojournalism so we can continue to be reminded that weddings are about celebrating love and togetherness (not ‘photo shoots’).

Here’s to Genevieve and Owen for showing us exactly what we need more of in this world.

And here’s to love, kindness, and authenticity.

PAZ + RENATA

Paz and Renata kept it pretty simple. One celebrant, one witness (a complete stranger grabbed from her morning beach walk), one bride, one groom, an incredibly beautiful setting…..and one photographer (that’s me), doubling as second witness.

I hadn’t met Paz from Israel or his Brazilian fiance Renata before their wedding. Making my way from my little Aussie coastal dwelling an hour down the coast it really felt like three worlds colliding. My introduction was warmed with dutiful shots of well aged scotch from some likewise well aged egg cups – they did the job.

From our first moments onwards, the shots (photographic shots that is) tell a story of love and romance fused with a strong dash of Brazilian spirit and Israeli charm.

Dallas, the celebrant , our new found and very enthusiastic witness, and of course myself, all felt incredibly privileged to have played a small role in celebrating Paz and Renata’s South Coast Wedding.

Love black and white for the wedding photojournalism

I love the realism of natural light and the contrast of shades of white and black, I love photography and film scene, the story with images that convey emotion and authenticity; Here are some of my black and white image from recent in the last few weddings last year.

These images represent my work and my wedding photojournalism

Shan and Pete, Kiama, South East Coast, Australia – 10.10.10

I’m going to keep this brief in fear of going too overboard with long winded descriptions gushing with stories of this wedding being the; funnest, coolest, warmest, freshest, most honest, most beautiful wedding, I’ve been fortunate enough to document. Replace ‘wedding’ with ‘bride and groom’ and you get the short version of the big picture.

Shannon and Pete got married at a place called Bush Bank in Kiama, which is on the South Coast of New South Wales in Australia. They got married on the 10th October, 10-10-10, and for everyone involved their wedding was nothing less than a 10 out 10.

I really hope you enjoy these images as much as I enjoyed capturing them.

Australian South Coast New South Wales Wedding

It must be almost a year since I was made a founding member of this group. To be included is the highlight of my Wedding Photography career.

Do you think I’ve made one blog entry in this time? Nope. I’ve been too busy shooting, and surfing, and spending time with my family.

So here down under, we’ve got a new wedding photography season beginning (not too many people get married in the winter months down south here), and with that comes a personal obligation to get some shots up on this precious space.

This is Hollee and Charles. They got married at Terrara House on the NSW South Coast in Australia here. I’ll otherwise let the shots tell the story. The date – August 15, 2010.

Enjoy – Dean Dampney, www.cloudface.com.au
